Morgan-Lawrence Kicks Off 2010 HEROES Campaign

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

There will be HEROES among us during the month of March, collecting money for our chapter to help us provide local emergency assistance for food, clothing, and shelter.  Individuals throughout Morgan County will be raising $1000 each by reaching out to friends and family for donations to support the life saving life enhancing work of the Red Cross.

The American Red Cross is mandated by Congress to do two things: to provide disaster relief and to facilitate emergency military communications, but we receive no federal funding.  We are dependent upon the generosity of the communities we serve to fulfill this mandate.

We are grateful to our Corporate Sponsors – Toray, 3M, Joe Wheeler Electric Cooperative, and Cook’s Pest Control.  If you would like to make a donation to the HEROES campaign, click the “Donate Now” button on the top left and designate your contribution for HEROES on the Donor Designations drop down menu.

Be Red Cross Ready

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Are you and your family ready if an emergency strikes?  Do you have enough food and water if the electricity goes off or you cannot leave your home?  Do you have a communication plan in place so that family members can let each other know where they are and if they are safe?  Are flashlights readily available in your home and do you have a weather radio?

Answer these questions and more by clicking on the “Be Red Cross Ready” banner at the bottom of this page to learn three simple steps - get a kit, make a plan,  stay informed – so that when disaster strikes you and your family will be ready.
